Tokuyama Folklore Collection and Storage Facility
The Tokuyama Folklore Collection and Storage Facility is located in Ibigawa Town, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture. It houses and displays 5,890 items of traditional mountain-village production equipment from the former Tokuyama Village, which was completely relocated to make way for the construction of Tokuyama Dam. The collection is designated an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
This is the largest collection of traditional mountain-village living and production tools in Japan. The objects were previously stored at the Tokuyama Cultural Property Preservation Facility, which opened in 1987, before being transferred to the current facility next to Michi-no-Eki Hoshi no Furusato Fujihashi.
The facility was established to preserve these valuable objects in good condition while making them available for public display. The collection offers insight into the everyday lives, traditional occupations, and practical skills of people who once lived in the mountain village.
